Suspect arrested over aiding the Kudawella shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Another suspect connected to the shooting that claimed the lives of four people in the Kudawella fisheries harbour in Tangalle has been arrested this morning (January 21). The suspect was arrested by officers of the Tangalle Criminal Investigation Unit in Galagama, Beliaththa. The arrested individual has been identified as a 31-year-old resident of Nakulugama. He was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the crime. Meanwhile, the motorbike which the suspects had used for the shooting was discovered by the police near a drain in a coconut estate based on the information revealed by the suspects. Two helmets used by the bike riders that were burnt were also discovered by the police. The Police Media Unit noted that the officers of the Criminal investigations unit are due to hand over the helmets to the Government Analyst department.
