Colombo (News1st):  The opening of the Sangavasa building at the Purwaarama Vihara in Karagoda, Yakkalamulla took place today (January 19) under the auspices of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Prime Minister also attended an almsgiving at the temple. The Premier noted that he read newspaper reports today regarding a comment expressed by the Maha Nayake of the Malwathu chapter on the new constitution. He noted that while there are some who claim that they are attempting to divide the nation, they have no plans of doing that. He stated that the Government has not created a new constitution or even a draft constitution. The PM noted that it was J.R. Jayawardene who introduced the term unitary state to the constitution, adding that he will continue to use the term but ensure that devolution of power occurs in this Unitary state.
