Reuters - A permanent space inside Brazil's famed Maracana stadium was opened on Tuesday (January 15) to commemorate Brazilian soccer great Marta, named best in the world six times. In December last year, Marta became the first woman inducted into Maracana's Hall of Fame and her footprints joined those of other soccer greats including Pele and Zico in the "Walk of Fame" around the stadium. "It's with much happiness that we inaugurate this well-deserved space," said Maracana's President-Director, Mauro Darze, calling Marta "our queen," In addition to her footprints, Marta's exhibit features memorabilia from her soccer career including soccer shoes, shirts, and trophies on display for visitors to the stadium to admire.
