Ranil Wickremesinghe sworn in as PM

Colombo (News1st) - UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka for the 5th occasions a short while ago. The swearing in was held at the presidential secretariat before President Maithripala Sirisena. A large group of journalists, as well as UNP supporters, have gathered outside the Presidential Secretariat. Security has been beefed up in the surrounding area. Following the ceremony, Wickremesinghe is expected to make a special statement on the current political situation as well as the way forward. UNP MP Ranjith Maddumabandara noted that a consensus has been reached to form a UNF Government.
