Notice To Gun Owners: Licence Renewal Window Opens September 1

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Defence has announced that the renewal process for firearm licences for the year 2027 will commence tomorrow (1).

According to the Ministry, licence holders will be able to renew their firearm permits until December 31, 2026, providing a four-month period for eligible owners to complete the required formalities.

The Ministry further emphasized that possessing a firearm without renewing the relevant licence constitutes an offence under Section 22 of the Firearms Ordinance and may result in legal action and penalties.
