One Killed In Kilinochchi Railway Crossing Crash

COLOMBO (News1st); A person was killed and another injured when a car collided with the intercity train operating from Colombo Fort to Kankesanthurai in the Araviyan Nagar area of Kilinochchi.

According to the Railway Department, the accident occurred at around 11:30 this morning at a level crossing equipped with functional warning signal lights.

The Railway Department stated that the train sustained damage in the incident.

The department added that steps have been taken to halt the train at the Kilinochchi railway station for the time being.
