No tsunami threat to Sri Lanka following 7.7-magnitude Indonesia Earthquake

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology states that there is no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka from the earthquake that occurred in Indonesia.

Sri Lanka’s National Tsunami Early Warning Center has confirmed that coastal areas remain safe for normal day-to-day activities.

The Department of Meteorology further stated that this announcement was issued in agreement with national and international agencies.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck Indonesia last night.
