Sri Lanka to Invest Rs. 42 Billion in Vocational Education

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government has planned to allocate nearly Rs. 42 billion to enhance the quality of vocational education in Sri Lanka during the 2027-2031 period.

Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that Rs. 4 billion of the total allocation is expected to be directed towards the Vocational Training Authority (VTA).

She noted that the Government's objective is to transform the Vocational Training Authority into a leading Centre of Excellence in every province, enabling students to achieve their educational and career aspirations through high-quality vocational training opportunities.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while attending the 5th Diploma Award Ceremony of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.

The ceremony was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
