COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect who allegedly worked as an employee at a fuel station owned by former Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been remanded until August 18.
The order was issued after he was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya today.
The suspect was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations of aiding and abetting the misuse of employees recruited to the Presidential Secretariat by deploying them for private and political activities.
The individual remanded is Deepal Sanjeewa Ratnayake, who is alleged to have been employed at a fuel station owned by former Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
Meanwhile, the court recently ordered that former Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, who was arrested in connection with the same incident, be remanded until August 18.
