Sri Lanka Squad Named For First Test Against India

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka has named a 16-member squad for the first Test against India, with wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella returning to the Test setup after a three-year absence.

Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the side, while Kamindu Mendis has been named vice-captain.

The return of the 33-year-old Niroshan Dickwella is a notable inclusion. He has played 54 Tests, scoring 2,757 runs, including 22 half-centuries.

Keshara Nuwanta and Dilshan Madushanka, who were not included in the squad for the West Indies series, have also been recalled for the Test against India.

The squad also includes Lahiru Udara, Nishan Madushka, Dinesh Chandimal, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Sonal Dinusha, Ramesh Mendis, Prabath Jayasuriya, Milan Rathnayake, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Vishwa Fernando.

The first Test is scheduled to begin on the 15th at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
