South Asia’s Tallest Dock Cranes To Strengthen Colombo West Terminal

COLOMBO (News 1st): The second phase of the capacity development at the Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) has officially commenced.

Accordingly, the installation of six electric dock cranes has begun at the terminal.

The Operations Manager of the Colombo West International Terminal has stated that these cranes are the tallest in the South Asian region.

The cranes are expected to enhance cargo handling efficiency and support environmentally friendly port operations.

The terminal handled a capacity of one million 20-foot containers during its first year of operation.
