Clean Drinking Water Access For 300,000 Families This Year

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Deputy Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply Susil Ranasinghe says clean drinking water to an additional 300,000 families will be provided this year. 

Deputy Minister stated drinking water projects worth Rs. 175 billion have already been launched to achieve this target.

As part of the programme, the Thambuttegama Water Supply Project will be vested with the public tomorrow under the patronage of the President.

The Rs. 32 billion project will provide clean drinking water to 25,000 families.

In addition, Deputy Minister said the construction of the Kebithigollewa–Horowpothana Drinking Water Project will also commence tomorrow. 

The project funded by JICA, is estimated to cost Rs. 52 billion and is expected to provide clean drinking water to 50,000 families.
