Cabinet Approves New Guidelines for Grade One Admissions in Government Schools

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Cabinet approval has been granted to issue a new circular containing revised procedures and guidelines for admitting students to Grade One in government schools from next year.

The approval was granted based on a proposal submitted by Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The new measures aim to ensure equal and fair access to education, enhance transparency in the admission process, and minimize irregularities.

The new circular is being prepared by taking into account recommendations and observations from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, school principals, education authorities, and the country's ongoing education reforms.
