COLOMBO (News 1st) – Two suspects linked to organized crime and drug trafficking have been arrested following their deportation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Police said the two men had been staying in Abu Dhabi when they were apprehended by the UAE security authorities and subsequently deported to Sri Lanka.
One of the suspects is the brother of alleged organized crime figure and drug trafficker known as 'Modara Nipuna.'
The suspect is a 25-year-old resident of Modara Mawatha, Colombo 15.
The other suspect has been identified as 'Bloemendhal Sanka' who was also wanted by Sri Lankan Police in connection with several criminal offences committed in the country.
Further investigations are underway.
