COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) says it has launched an investigation into a supermarket in Kollupitiya that sells imported food products, following findings made during a raid conducted by its investigation officers.
According to the CAA, information displayed on the products was available only in foreign languages.
The products also did not contain essential details, including information about the importer, the maximum retail price (MRP), batch numbers, manufacturing dates, or expiry dates.
Investigators discovered a number of packaged food items that had allegedly been placed on sale illegally.
The Consumer Affairs Authority says that once investigations are completed, strict legal action will be taken against the supermarket.
