More Than 3,000 Bribery Complaints Received By CIABOC In 2026, 70 Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption says 32 state officials have been arrested over bribery charges during the first four months of 2026.

CIABOC stated that 70 individuals have been arrested in relation to bribery during the same period, while legal action has been filed against 51 of them.

Nearly Rs. 1.9 million has been recovered for the state through these cases.

From the months of January to April of this year, the Commission has received 3,349 complaints related to bribery.

314 cases filed under bribery allegations are currently being heard in courts.
