Vehicle Number Plate Printing Restarts Today (08) - DMT

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The printing of vehicle number plates, which had been temporarily halted for more than a year, is set to recommence this morning.

Accordingly, The Department of Motor Traffic says that the operation is scheduled to begin at 10.00 a.m. today (08) at the Department of Motor Traffic premises in Werahera, under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Highways Bimal Rathnayake.

The printing of vehicle number plates was suspended since May 2025 due to issues related to the tender process.

The Government entered into the relevant agreement for the printing of vehicle number plates in March this year.
