COLOMBO (News 1st) - The third phase of the Gammadda Rebuild program an initiative to rebuild the lives of families affected by Cyclone Ditwah by restoring their daily livelihoods kicked off today.
The program will be held today (04) and tomorrow (05) centering the Badulla District.
The programme is being implemented with the support of Australia's Minderoo Foundation.
During the program basic training will be provided in several vocational fields, including garment manufacturing, carpentry, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, and welding.
Participants will also receive necessary equipment free of charge.
The training is conducted with the full assistance of the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), and participants will be awarded certificates upon completion.
Following Cyclone Ditwah, affected families were initially provided essential aid via the Gammadda Relief program.
Subsequently, under the Gammadda Care and Dare initiative, additional essential supplies were distributed to support the improvement of living conditions of those affected.
