COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special discussion regarding the students' demands made by the representatives from the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) over the Abandoned Malwana residence is scheduled to be held today (18) under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The discussion, which will take place at the Prime Minister’s Office, is expected to be attended by the relevant parties.

Further action is expected to be decided following the discussion.

A group of IUSF students entered the residence in Malwana on May 14, claiming that the property previously belonged to former minister Basil Rajapaksa and had since been abandoned.

According to IUSF representatives, the move was intended to demand that properties allegedly acquired using public funds be returned for public use.

The students also called for such properties to be utilized for the establishment of proper faculty complexes and student hostels to address the shortage of facilities faced by state universities.
