COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has earned a record revenue of Rs. 1 billion over the six days from the 8th to the 13th of April.
This surge in income is largely attributed to the disruption of the Upcountry Railway Line, which was damaged during the recent Cyclone 'Ditwah'.
As a result, a massive number of commuters heading home for the holidays shifted from trains to bus services.
On April 11th alone, the SLTB recorded a peak daily income of Rs. 213 million.
Approximately two million passengers were transported on this day.
To meet the high demand, the SLTB increased its fleet by adding 1,500 extra buses in addition to the standard daily schedule.
