Two Arrested at BIA with Rs. 15 Mn Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two suspects were arrested for attempting to illegally smuggle a consignment of foreign-manufactured cigarettes valued at Rs. 15 million into the country.

The arrest was made by officers of the Customs during an inspection at the Bandaranayake International Airport in Katunayake. 

The suspects aged 25 and 34, are residents of Kandy and Gampaha. 

According to Customs, the suspects had attempted to smuggle over 100,000 foreign cigarettes hidden inside eight luggages.
