COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced that the QR code system is now mandatory for obtaining fuel across Sri Lanka, while granting a one‑day concession for those who were previously unable to download or register for the QR code due to technical difficulties.

According to the CPC, individuals who could not obtain fuel earlier because they were unable to access or register for the QR‑based fuel quota system will be allowed to purchase fuel today, regardless of whether their vehicle number falls under the odd or even number system.

This temporary arrangement applies to both categories, providing equal access for all affected motorists.

However, the CPC has made it clear that from today onwards, fuel will not be issued without a QR code. Fuel station operators have been formally instructed not to dispense fuel to customers who fail to present a valid QR code linked to the fuel quota system.

CPC Managing Director Mayura Netthikumara stated that the technical issues encountered during the issuance of QR codes for fuel quotas have now been fully resolved.
