Gammadda Care and Dare Rebuilds Lives in Kandy and Matale After Cyclone Ditwah

COLOMBO (News 1st);The fourth phase of the Gammadda, Care and Dare program will be held today and tomorrow centered around the Kandy and Matale Districts.

Driven by their unwavering courage, Gammadda stepped forward to stand by our people through the 'Gammadda Care & Dare' initiative—a mission dedicated to restoring hope and rebuilding lives after the cyclone Ditwah. 

Our hope is for a nation rising again... Rebuild and Recover.

This is done In collaboration with the Minderoo Foundation of Australia—one of the world's largest philanthropic organizations.

The first phase of Care and Dare was successfully implemented in Kotmale, the second in Passara, Madolsima and Welimada areas and the third phase in Nildandhahinna and Gampola, benefiting thousands of people.

Today’s programme focuses on the Ududumbara Divisional Secretariat in Kandy District and is held at the Ududumbara Sarath Ekanayake Model Primary School.

Tomorrow, this programme is scheduled to be conducted for the people of the Rattota and Ambanganga Korale Divisional Secretariat areas in Matale District, at the Rattota Sri Kumaran Model Primary School.

The Gammadda Care and Dare program offers medical, counseling, and legal services, along with financial assistance, while also providing guidance to those who have lost their income or self-employment opportunities.

The Divisional Secretariat offices have also joined hands with this initiative to help disaster-affected individuals obtain essential documents, including birth certificates, that were lost.

Special services are provided for pregnant mothers and young children, along with the distribution of dry rations, household items, and hygiene packages to those affected by the disaster.

The National Disaster Relief Services Centre, the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health, the Tri-Forces, and the Sri Lanka Police have partnered with Gammadda to support this initiative.

The current phase of the Gammadda 'Care and Dare' initiative aims to complete its reach across ten Divisional Secretariats that were highly vulnerable due to Cyclone Ditwah.
