Nearly 9,000 Fined for Seat Belt Violations on Expressway

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police say nearly 9,000 drivers and passengers have been fined so far for violating seat belt regulations on the expressway.

The Expressway Police stated that inspections are being carried out at all entry and exit points to ensure strict compliance with the law.

It is now mandatory for both drivers and passengers in all vehicles travelling on the expressway to wear seat belts.

Police have also issued instructions to officers on expressway duty to strictly enforce the regulation in the interest of public safety.
