Johnston Brought from Remand For Sathosa Misuse Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court fixed March 6 as the next date for the continuation of evidence in the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former Minister Johnston Fernando and two others.

The case was taken up before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando and his coordinating secretary, Mohamed Shakir, who are currently in remand custody over a separate case before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court, were produced before the Colombo High Court today.

The Bribery Commission has filed the case alleging that during his tenure as Minister of Trade, Johnston Fernando had caused a financial loss to the state by deploying employees of Sathosa for political activities instead of official duties.

The accused named in the case are former Minister Johnston Fernando, former Sathosa chairman Eraj Fernando, and coordinating secretary Mohamed Shakir.
