Essential Services Gazette Extended Following Cyclone Ditwah

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Extraordinary Gazette Notification declaring 15 services as essential services has been extended once again.

The Gazette was issued under the directive of the President and signed by the Secretary to the President, N. S. Kumanayake.

Accordingly, the following services have been declared essential: electricity, fuel, health services, transport, roads, water supply, food services, District Secretariats, Divisional Secretariats and field officers, ambulance services, the Central Bank, state banks and insurance services, irrigation, telephone and telecommunication services, media services, low-lying land reclamation, agriculture, and agricultural insurance.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake first issued the Essential Services Gazette on November 29 with the objective of ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of vital public services in view of the disaster situation.

In light of the continued impact of Cyclone Ditwah, additional services have been designated as essential to safeguard normal public life and maintain continuity of critical operations.
