Van Driver Arrested in Deadly Nawagamuwa Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested the 19-year-old driver of the van allegedly used by gunmen involved in the recent Nawagamuwa shooting, a violent attack that left one person dead and two others injured.

According to police, the suspect was taken into custody in the Koholwila area in Kelaniya, following ongoing investigations into the January 1 shooting incident in Koratota–Menikgara Road, Nawagamuwa. 

Authorities say the youth had acted as the driver of the van used to transport the attackers to the scene.

Police further revealed that the attack had been orchestrated by an organised criminal figure currently residing overseas, based on emerging investigative findings. Several other suspects connected to the same shooting have already been arrested earlier.
