COLOMBO (News1st): The low-pressure area located over the Gulf of Mannar is weakening further and moving away from the island.

The Department of Meteorology says that the impact of the system on the island's weather is continuing to decrease.

Meanwhile, light showers may occur in the Northern, North-Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several locations in elsewhere on the island during evening or night.

Misty conditions can be expected in some places within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning.

The Department of Meteorology requested the public to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
