Full Reconstruction of Northern Railway Line Begins Today

COLOMBO (News1st): The Department of Railways announced that comprehensive reconstruction work on the Northern Railway Line will commence today.

The project is being carried out under Indian financial assistance.

Approximately $5 million from the Indian aid package has been allocated for these constructions.

The reconstruction is underway due to the extensive damage caused to the rail tracks from the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

Accordingly, Train services from Mahawa to Omanthai will be restricted starting from 19th January.
