Iron Plates Used to Facilitate Mobile Phone Trade In Prison

COLOMBO (News 1st); A joint operation at Boossa Prison has led to the seizure of a mobile phone and several mobile phone accessories.

The raid was carried out by officers from the Police Special Task Force (STF) Boossa Camp, Galle Senanka Camp, and the Prison Emergency Response and Tactical Unit, working in coordination to curb illegal activities inside the high-security facility.

The contraband was discovered in Section A of the prison’s special unit, specifically inside Cell No. 28, as well as in the ceiling and the prison hospital building. 

In addition, officers recovered two iron plates hidden inside shoe soles, allegedly modified to facilitate mobile phone exchanges within the prison.
