76 Public Officials and 7 Politicians Arrested for Bribery

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has reported that 76 public officials were arrested on bribery charges during the past year.

The Commission says that the majority of those arrested were police officers, totaling 24 individuals. 

These suspects were taken into custody during the course of 119 raids.

Additionally, the Commission stated that 7 politicians were arrested for corruption and fraud during the period leading up to November 2025.

According to the Commission, a total of 7,811 complaints were received throughout these 11 months.
