COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing its annual revenue target well ahead of schedule, according to Customs Director and Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa.

Speaking to the media, Punchihewa revealed that the government had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for 2025.

"By mid-November, we had already crossed that figure," he said.

Following this achievement, the government revised the target upward to Rs. 2,231 billion. But Customs didn’t stop there.

"As of Friday, the 26th, total tax revenue collected stands at Rs. 2,497 billion—exceeding even the revised target," Punchihewa confirmed.

With three working days still remaining, Customs expects the final figure to reach approximately Rs. 2,525 billion, setting a new benchmark for revenue collection in the country.
