India's Jaishankar In Sri Lanka For Relief Talks; Chinese Delegation to Arrive In Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is scheduled to meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning.

Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Sri Lanka last evening with a high-level delegation, for a two-day official visit, as a special envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The visit aims to extend an additional relief package to the people of Sri Lanka affected by recent disasters.

Minister Jaishankar is also scheduled to hold discussions today with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath.

A meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya is set to take place later this afternoon.

Concluding his two-day visit, India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is expected to depart Sri Lanka tonight.

Meanwhile, a senior Chinese delegation led by Wang Junzheng, a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the CPC Committee of Xizang Autonomous Region, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today, for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The delegation will remain in the country until December 25, with discussions expected to focus on enhancing mutual support and deepening strategic ties between the two nations.
