COLOMBO (News 1st) -President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for providing urgent humanitarian assistance to support communities affected by severe flooding and heavy rainfall.
During a telephone conversation yesterday with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Dissanayake conveyed his appreciation for the timely aid.
In the call, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives in the floods and extended his sympathy to the people of Sri Lanka.
According to the President's Media Division, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also informed President Dissanayake that a team from the UAE would be sent to Sri Lanka to assess the extent of the damage and explore opportunities for further support.
The UAE President reaffirmed his country’s commitment to stand by Sri Lanka and provide assistance wherever necessary.
