GovPay Processes Over Rs. 2 Bn in Digital Transactions This Year

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Sri Lanka’s government digital payment platform, GovPay, has processed digital transactions exceeding Rs. 2 billion so far this year.

Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said that GovPay has enabled payments to over 223 government institutions and more than 3,400 services, handling over Rs. 2 billion via 70+ payment channels. Traffic fines in six provinces and contributions to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” fund during Cyclone Ditwah—raising over Rs. 14 million—were also processed through the platform. The government plans to expand GovPay further, targeting annual transactions exceeding Rs. 2 billion.
