COLOMBO(News 1st); The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund is meeting today to review Sri Lanka’s formal request for emergency financial assistance under the Rapid Financing Instrument.

The request, amounting to US$200 million—equivalent to 26 percent of Sri Lanka’s IMF quota—comes in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread destruction across the island.

If approved, the emergency financing will provide a vital lifeline to stabilize the economy and accelerate reconstruction in cyclone-affected regions.
