Ministers Call for Islandwide Support as ‘A United Nation’ Mission Advances

COLOMBO (News 1st);The Kalutara District Operations Meeting under the mission 'A United Nation' was held in Kalutara today undeer the patronage of Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, and the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala said that the National Council was established a month ago based on a Cabinet decision, and committees are being formed across all levels of society to address a rapidly escalating problem that is causing serious harm. 

He stated that the government aims to eliminate this issue from society and believes all parties, communities, castes, and religions will support the initiative.

Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that the programme will not rely solely on the police or security and intelligence agencies, but will be carried out with the support of religious leaders and social groups from all communities. He added that it is not possible to predict who may become victims of this issue.
