Backhoe Saman’s Wife Granted Bail | Travel Ban Imposed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today ordered the release on bail of Sadhika Lakshani, wife of the underworld figure known as ‘Backhoe Saman’, in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The suspect was granted bail on a cash bond of Rs. 50,000 and two sureties of Rs. 2 million each.

In addition, the Magistrate imposed a travel ban, directing her to surrender her passport to the court.

During proceedings, the defense counsel informed the court that the passport is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

The case has been scheduled to be recalled on January 22.
