Flood Warnings Issued for Areas Along Maha Oya and Deduru Oy

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Irrigation has issued flood warnings for areas surrounding the Maha Oya and Deduru Oya rivers due to the prevailing heavy rainfall.

The department stated that significant rainfall has been recorded in several parts of the Maha Oya basin, which could lead to considerable flooding in low-lying areas of several Divisional Secretariat divisions over the next 28 hours.

Accordingly, residents in the Alawwa, Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana, and Dankotuwa Divisional Secretariat areas have been advised to remain highly cautious and take necessary safety measures as water levels continue to rise.
