COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has exceeded its tax revenue target for the first nine months of 2025, achieving 102% of the expected collection, according to officials who briefed the Committee on Ways and Means in Parliament.
As of September 30, 2025, the IRD had collected Rs. 1,641,997 million in tax revenue, surpassing the projected figure of Rs. 1,610,599 million.
This performance represents 75% of the total annual tax revenue target of Rs. 2,195,220 million.
The figures were disclosed during a meeting of the Committee on Ways and Means held on October 8, 2025, chaired by Wijesiri Basnayake, Member of Parliament.
The committee convened to review the progress of tax revenue collection, assess year-on-year growth, and discuss strategic reforms aimed at enhancing revenue generation.
