Govt Advances Housing For Displaced In North, East

COLOMBO(News 1st); Deputy Minister of Housing T.B. Sarath visited areas to review the program providing permanent housing to displaced people in the North and East provinces.

The government has allocated Rs. 2,500 million for this housing program.

A total of 919,109 people from 276,883 families have been displaced, including 1,424 families in Jaffna and 29 families in Kilinochchi.

The construction of permanent housing has already begun, and the Deputy Minister inspected the ongoing projects.

The Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing has also proposed allocating additional funds for housing in Jaffna under the 2026 budget.
