COLOMBO(News 1st); The work-to-rule action initiated by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) trade unions at midnight yesterday is currently in effect.

Union representatives launched the industrial action to press 16 demands, including resolving issues related to the restructuring process of the CEB.

Several trade unions, including the Nidahas Sewaka Sangamaya, the Podujana Porgressive Workers’ Union, and the Engineers’ Union, are participating in the action.

This was confirmed by Dhanushka Parakramasinghe, an executive committee member of the CEB Engineers’ Union.

Under the electricity law enforced on August 27, the CEB was restructured into four separate entities.

Employees are to be assigned to these four entities, and letters allowing staff to be attached to the companies according to their preference were issued to employees recently.
