Thousands Gather to Venerate Sacred Relics at Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone, a beacon of spiritual reverence and cultural celebration, opened its doors to devotees today (13) at 2 PM.

The sacred relics, brought from the Nelligala International Buddhist Center and the Galle Paramananda Rajamaha Viharaya, are now enshrined at the Vesak Zone, inviting thousands to pay homage.

The event commenced with a solemn ceremony, marking the beginning of the veneration of the sacred relics.

Devotees can also enjoy a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances from Udarata, Pahatharata, and Sabaragamuwa regions, adding a vibrant touch to the celebrations.

In addition to the religious observances, the Vesak Zone features beautifully illuminated streets adorned with intricate lanterns and puppet shows, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere.

The devotional songs, filling the air with a sense of peace and joy, further enhance the spiritual ambiance.

The Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone, located at the Sirasa Headquarters in Braybrooke Place, Colombo, will continue until May 15th.

The zone's centerpiece is a stunning pandal depicting the Andabhuta Jataka story, captivating visitors with its artistic brilliance.

As is tradition, devotees from all over the country have gathered to venerate the sacred relics and participate in the festivities. Various government and private institutions have also contributed to the event, organizing dansals to provide food for the attendees.
