COLOMBO (News 1st) – Speaking exclusively to News1st’s Buddmin Amaradiwakara, Sri Lankan racing sensation Yevan David shared his elation following his recent triumph in the opening round of the EuroFormula Open Championship 2025. The 17-year-old driver confirmed his current standing as the championship leader.

 

"I'm feeling incredibly happy about this achievement," Yevan David shared with evident satisfaction. He emphasized that this success was the direct result of the considerable effort and dedication he had invested leading up to this crucial point. However, the young racer maintained a focused perspective, acknowledging that "there is still a long and demanding season ahead."

Outlining his strategy for the remainder of the championship, David said that his aim is to perform to the best of their ability and achieve the best possible results across the seven rounds of the EuroFormula Open Championship.

 

The young driver also acknowledged the growing support from his fan base. "The encouragement pushes me forward,"he affirmed. He further commented on the increasing interest in Formula racing within Sri Lanka, adding, "It's encouraging to see the country developing more interest in Formula 1," and shared his future ambition, "I hope that in the coming years, my country will be watching me compete in Formula 1.

Following his strong performance in the first round, Yevan David currently holds the lead in this year's EuroFormula Open Championship. The next round of the championship is scheduled to take place in Belgium this month.
