Over Rs. 50 Mn Spent On Urumaya Deed Programs

COLOMBO (News 1st); Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa disclosed that the previous government spent over 50 million rupees on the Urumaya land deed presentation ceremonies.

The program, organized by the Ministry of Irrigation and the Mahaweli Authority, included events held at various locations such as the Walawa region and the Thambuttegama Mahaweli Sports Ground.

According to the expenditure records, the heritage certificate program commenced in February 2024. 

Since then, 26 ceremonies have been held, with a total allocated budget of 65.772 million rupees.

To date, 52.935 million rupees have been spent on these events.
