COLOMBO (News 1st); Celebrated wildlife enthusiast Senaka Kotagama is set to launch his debut publication, "The World of the Black Leopard," in June 2025.

The book spotlights "Giza," the elusive black leopard of Laikipia, Kenya, and marks a significant milestone in wildlife literature.

At a press conference held in Colombo, Kotagama shared captivating insights and stunning photography from his visits to Laikipia since 2023.

As the first Sri Lankan to bring this remote region and its "Black Beauty" to the attention of fellow wildlife lovers back home, Kotagama's work promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the field.

Kotagama revealed that "The World of the Black Leopard" is the first installment in a series titled "The Ultimate Predator."

He emphasized the immersive nature of his work, combining detailed content with photography, videography, and footage from a first-generation handy cam. This unique approach has given his maiden production a distinctive and meaningful edge.

With unreserved guidance, information, and connections shared, Kotagama's book aims to reach those in the Sri Lankan and global wildlife fraternity who have not had the opportunity to see Giza.

He hopes the book, along with its stunning illustrations, will elevate the reader's experience to another level. Kotagama's production is driven by a passion for exploration and adventure, rather than personal profit.

Inspired by pioneering camera-trap images from wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas, Kotagama became the first Sri Lankan to track the elusive "ghost in the darkness" in 2023.

His self-published work blends gripping adventure with the groundbreaking discovery of Giza, offering readers an immersive dive into the wild.
