Speed Limit Alert: 60 km/h Advised on Expressways Amid Heavy Rain

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Road Development Authority (RDA) has issued a safety advisory urging motorists to exercise extra caution when using expressways during periods of heavy rainfall.

R.A.D. Kahatapitiya, Deputy Director General of the RDA’s Expressway Operations and Maintenance Division, advised drivers to maintain a maximum speed of 60 km/h during wet weather conditions to ensure safety.

The advisory comes as several regions across the country experience persistent rain, increasing the risk of accidents due to slippery road surfaces and reduced visibility.
