Nominations to Open for Mannar, Poonakary, and Dehiattakandiya Pradeshiya Sabhas Today (24)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The acceptance of nominations for the Mannar, Poonakary, and Dehiattakandiya Pradeshiya Sabhas begins today.

Nominations will close at 12 noon on the 27th of March.

Meanwhile, the deadline for depositing security bonds for these Pradeshiya Sabhas, is 12 noon on the 26th of March.

Meanwhile, information on candidates contesting the upcoming local government election—regarding whether or not they have submitted their declarations of assets and liabilities—has been forwarded to the Bribery Commission.

The election for 336 local government bodies across the island will be held on May 6.

A total of 107 recognized political parties will contest the election.

In addition, 49 independent groups will also contest this year’s election.

Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Rathnayake, has also issued a set of guidelines to candidates regarding how campaign activities should be conducted during the festive season.
