COLOMBO (News 1st); Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe addressed Parliament on Friday (21) regarding the controversy surrounding the ownership of land in the Imbulgoda area of Gampaha.

The issue had gained attention due to reports of alleged forced entry into the property.

He provided detailed information about the ownership and transactions related to several plots of land.

In March 2012, a plot of land belong to a person named K. D. Parakrama Yagoda in Ihala Imbulgoda was acquired by the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports and Spiritual Development Foundation for Rs. 500,000.

This land was later sold for Rs. 1 million.

Another plot in Ihala Imbulgoda, owned by H.T. Thameera Premachandra, H.T. Premachandra, and N.L. Swarnalatha, was acquired by Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa of Carlton House, Tangalle, for Rs. 500,000.

He emphasized that none of the deeds for these lands indicated ownership by a temple or a monk.
