India-Pakistan Tensions Boost Colombo Port Activity

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Port has experienced an increase in operational activity due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, according to Deputy Minister of Ports Ruwan Kodithuwakku.

The Deputy Minister confirmed that the government has taken proactive measures to manage the surge in port traffic with maximum efficiency.

The heightened state of alert in the region has led to the suspension of maritime routes between India and Pakistan, affecting both Indian vessels heading to Pakistan and Pakistani vessels bound for India.

The Deputy Minister also noted that transshipment activities have seen a marked increase in Colombo.
